Falling in Love With the Life You Have

Jan 22, 2026

What If We Fell in Love With Today?

In times that feel uncertain, here’s what I’m relearning:

  • What if, instead of focusing on what we lack, we looked at what we already have?

  • What if we paused to notice the small moments that feel good throughout the day instead of rushing past them?

  • What if we appreciated the people in our lives rather than complaining about them?

  • What if we asked for what we need instead of hoping others would guess?

I’m asking these questions because I’ve been struggling with this too.

Feeling Disconnected

For the past year, I had been looking too far ahead, overthinking, searching for answers, and trying to force results. I felt disconnected, like I had hit a wall and wasn’t on the right path. I was focused on everything I didn’t have and how nothing seemed to be working out. Every scroll on social media only reinforced that feeling.

But over the last few months, I’ve been shifting my focus. I’ve been noticing all that I do have, appreciating the value in where I am, and seeing what’s actually working in my life.

Staying present, rather than constantly looking ahead, has made me feel more hopeful that everything will work out.

Reframing This Season

This reminded me of a season years ago when I was single. I reached a point of loneliness, convinced I would never find a partner to go through life with again.

Then I decided to reframe it: this was a time to explore life on my own terms. I invested in my friends’ lives, visited family, learned new hobbies, and developed routines that grounded me in who I was so I wouldn’t lose myself in a relationship again.

The result? I developed some of the most meaningful relationships of my life. When I eventually met the love of my life, he didn’t replace those connections. He strengthened them and encourages me to keep nurturing them.

That season I once thought was just “waiting” turned out to be essential.

Choosing to Enjoy This Moment

Falling in love with our lives as they are right now isn’t just nice, it’s necessary. We can choose to enjoy this time, because one day we might look back and realize it was exactly what helped us arrive somewhere better than we imagined.

I’d love to know, what’s one thing in your life right now that you’re truly grateful for?
